HOW TO OBTAIN THE BIOMETRIC PASSPORT AND THE 12-S

The Consulate of Algeria in London hereby informs all Algerian citizens residing within its consular district (United Kingdom and Ireland) and registered at the Consulate that the procedure of the biometric passport has started.
Every registered citizen applying for the renewal of his/her passport must fulfil the three (03) following conditions:

1. Be in possession of the extract of his/her birth certificate, the special "12-S";
2. Obtain an appointment;
3. Submit the file.

EXPLANATIONS

1. THE "12-S" SPECIAL EXTRACT OF BIRTH CERTIFICATE:

 What is it? It is an extract of birth certificate, issued once in a lifetime, on a special and secured paper.

 Where can I get it? You can get it from:

• The Town Hall of your place of birth if you are born in Algeria or online (must be registered at the Consulate): http://demande12s.interieur.gov.dz ;
• The Consulate of Algeria in London if you are born in the United Kingdom or Ireland and your birth has been registered at the Consulate;
• The Civil Status Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Algiers if you are born abroad and residing in Algeria, provided that your birth has been registered at the embassy or consulate territorially competent.

NOTE: CITIZENS BORN IN ALGERIA ARE ADVISED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF A VISIT TO ALGERIA TO GET THE SPECIAL EXTRACT OF THEIR BIRTH CERTIFICATE Nº "12-S".

2.OBTAINING AN APPOINTMENT:

The citizen must first make an appointment by calling the Consulate on the phone number (+44) 020 7594 0157 exclusively dedicated to this purpose. This phone number will be made available in due course.

3.THE FILE:

To support your application for a biometric passport, you must provide the following documents:

1. The form + the annex form, when applicable, duly filled and signed by the applicant or by the legal guardian for minors;
2. The applicant's special extract of the birth certificate Nº "12-S";
3. The valid consular registration card;
4. The proof of legal residence in the United Kingdom or in Ireland;
5. The work certificate or certificate of enrolment for students or school children;
6. Four (04) colour, digital, new and identical passport size (3,5x4,5 cm) photos (Please write the name and surname at the back);
7. Payment of the passport fees;
8. The original and a copy of the blood type card;
9. The proof of address (any utility bill);
10. The expired passport. If it is lost or stolen, you must include in your application for the renewal of your passport the declaration of loss or theft.

PROCEDURE POUR L'OBTENTION DU PASSEPORT BIOMETRIQUE ET DU 12-S

Le Consulat d'Algérie à Londres informe les ressortissants algériens résidant dans sa circonscription consulaire (Royaume-Uni et Irlande) et immatriculés auprès de ses services que, l'entrée en vigueur du passeport biométrique, chaque ressortissant immatriculé demandant le renouvellement de son passeport doit remplir les trois (03) conditions suivantes:

1. Avoir son extrait d’acte de naissance spécial Nº ″12-S″;
2. Obtenir un rendez-vous;
3. Présenter le dossier.

EXPLICATIONS

1. L'EXTRAIT D’ACTE DE NAISSANCE SPECIAL Nº ″12-S″ :

 Qu’est-ce que c’est ? C'est un acte de naissance délivré, une fois dans la vie, sur un imprimé spécial sécurisé.

 Où puis-je l’obtenir ?

• A la mairie du lieu de naissance pour les citoyens nés en Algérie ou par internet (ressortissant doit être immatriculé) à l'adresse suivante : http://demande12s.interieur.gov.dz ;
• Au Consulat d'Algérie à Londres pour les citoyens nés au Royaume-Uni et en Irlande dont la naissance a été transcrite sur ses registres;
• Au service de l'état civil du Ministère des Affaires Etrangères à Alger pour les citoyens nés à l'étranger et retournés en Algérie si leur naissance a été transcrite auprès de l'ambassade ou du consulat territorialement compétent.

N.B. : Il est conseillé aux citoyens nés en Algérie de profiter d’un voyage au pays pour se faire établir leur extrait d’acte de naissance spécial ″12-S″.

2. LE RENDEZ-VOUS :

Le citoyen doit au préalable demander un rendez-vous au Consulat en appelant le numéro de téléphone (+44) 020 7594 0157 exclusivement réservé à cet effet.

3. LE DOSSIER:

Le dossier à fournir à l’appui d’une demande de passeport biométrique est constitué des documents suivants :

1. Le formulaire + le cas échéant, le formulaire annexe dûment renseigné(s) et signé(s) par l’intéressé ou par le tuteur légal pour les mineurs;
2. L’extrait d’acte de naissance spécial N°12-S de l’intéressé;
3. La carte d’immatriculation consulaire en cours de validité;
4. Le justificatif de séjour au Royaume-Uni ou en Irlande;
5. L’attestation de travail ou le certificat de scolarité pour les étudiants ou les enfants scolarisés;
6. Quatre (04) photos d’identité (3,5x4,5 cm) en couleur, numériques, récentes et identiques (Prière inscrire le nom et le prénom au dos de chaque photo);
7. Paiement des frais de passeport;
8. L’original et une copie de la carte du groupe sanguin;
9. Un justificatif d’adresse
10. Le passeport arrivé à expiration. En cas de perte ou de vol, la déclaration de perte ou de vol doit être jointe au dossier de renouvellement.
