Notice: Applying for a passport for the first time at the Consulate is subject to prior consular registration.
Please provide the following documents when for a new passport (the first to be issued by the Consulate), for the renewal or the extension of an expired passport :
1. One Application form 2. Previous passport
3. The consular registration card
4. Original plus a copy of proof of residency document (in the form of Home Office sticker or stamp) British or Irish or European Economic Area passport
5. Four (04) similar and recent passport-sized photographs (please write the name and surname at the back)
6. Proof of employment or certificate of enrolment for the students
7. Proof of address (any utility bill, tenancy agreement, )
8. Fees: £18 (to be paid in cash or by postal order. For applications sent by post, we advise to use Postal Order and not to send cash). 9. A prepaid self-addressed special delivery envelope for nationals residing in the UK and postal order of £8 for nationals living in Ireland.
Lost, Stolen or Damaged Passport:
If a passport is lost, damaged or stolen, you must report it immediately at your local police station and to the Algerian Consulate, where you can apply for a new passport.
The replacement passport is issued after cancellation of the lost, damaged or stolen one. This process can take several months.
Please provide the following documents:
1. Lost property form issued by your local police station
2. Application form 3. Declaration of loss of passport of the Consulate
4. The consular registration card
5. Original plus a copy of proof of residency document (in the form of Home Office sticker or stamp) British or Irish or European Economic Area passport

13. Be advised also that an additional fee of £18 as a penalty is required for lost, damaged or stolen passports. A stamped receipt is issued to the applicant to confirm the payment of this tax.

Passport for Kids
A minor is entitled to an individual passport at any age. His name and photo can also be put on the parents' Algerian passports. Only four (04) children can be on the parents passport.
However, after the age of 15, the name and photo of a minor cannot be added on his parents' passports. The issuing of a passport to a minor is subject to a written authorisation by the father.
For an individual passport, you need to provide the following:
1. Passport Application Form 2. Parental Authorisation Application Form 3. Original and a copy of the father's Identity Document (Consular Card or Passport)
4. Original and a copy of the Full Birth Certificate of the minor or the parents' Family book (the original will be returned)
5. Four (04) similar and recent passport sized photographs for an individual passport (please write the name and surname at the back)
6. Previous passport, if any.
7. Proof of legal residency or original and a copy of the British or Irish passport of the child.
8. School registration certificate
9. Passport fees: £18 (to be paid in cash or by postal order. For applications sent by post, we advise to use Postal Order and not to send cash) 10. A prepaid self-addressed special delivery envelope for nationals residing in the UK and postal order of £8 for nationals living in Ireland.
To add the Kid's name and photo on the parent passport, you need to provide the following:
1. Parental Authorisation Application Form 2. Two (02) similar and recent photographs (please write the name and surname at the back)
3. Original plus a copy of the Full Birth Certificate of the minor or the parents' Family Book
4. School registration certificate.
5. Proof of legal residency or original and a copy of the British or Irish passport of the child.
NOTES: Please, be advised that children's birth must be registered with the civil status section (service de l'état civil) of the Consulate prior to the issuance of a first passport or the renewal of an expired one.
Furthermore, the Consulate recalls that Algerian law imposes that the birth of a child must be declared to and registered with the Consulate within 10 days.
General Notice - Passport Renewal and Extension
1. If you are already registered at the consulate, you can apply for:
The renewal of your passport, or
The extension of the previous passport
2. Initial issue of passport by the Algerian Consulate is done as soon as the registration process is gone through.
3. Renewal or extension of the passports takes a few days depending on the number of applications already being processed. Every effort is made to reduce the processing time and ensure that the passport is renewed on the same day.
4. Applications for the renewal or extension of passport can be made 6 months before the expiry date of the current passport.
5. Regardless the expiry date of the current passport, applications for renewal can be made if the passport does not contain any plain (Blank) pages.
6. Applications for early renewal or extension of passport when applying for a long validity foreign visa (Shengen Visa for example) cannot be considered.
Identity Card
Please provide the following documents when applying for an ID card (the applicant should be registered at the Consulate):
1. Application form 2. Three (03 similar) similar and recent passport-sized photographs ((please write the name and surname at the back)
3. Previous Identity Card
4. Consular registration card (must be valid)
5. Fees: £1
Notice:
1. Identity Cards are valid for 10 years from the date of issue
2. The presence of the applicant at the consulate for collection of ID Card is required.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
1. Please be advised that uncompleted applications will be returned to the sender (if made by mail) or not accepted if lodged at the consulate.
2. Send a letter with your applications to explain what you want or to which section you are sending your document
3. Write your name at the back of the postal order
4. the postal order should be made payable to the ALGERIAN CONSULATE.
