- Who needs a visa to enter Algeria ?
All non-Algerians need to apply for a visa to enter Algeria. Some nationals of foreign countries listed below are exempted from visa :
1. Nationals from the following countries do not require a visa to travel to Algeria :
Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, Malaysia, Maldives, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic,
Seychelles, Syrian Arab Republic, Tunisia, Yemen.
2. Nationals of the States mentioned below, holding Diplomatic Passports do not need a visa to travel to Algeria :
Argentina, Croitia, France, Germany, Hungary , Romania.
3. Nationals of the States mentioned below, holding Diplomatic or Official Passports (Passeports de service) do not need a visa to travel to Algeria :
Albanie, Benin, Brazil, Cuba, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gréce, Guinea, Italy, Malaysia, Mali, Malta, Mexico,
Niger, Peru, Portugal, Republic of Korea, Senegal, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland,
Tanzania, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Venezuela, Vietnam.
- Who can apply for a visa ?
The Consulate of Algeria in London will process visa applications made by applicants residing in the UK and the Republic of Ireland only.
Others foreign citizens must provide proof of residence in the UK or Ireland;
Regardless their age, kids traveling with parents need a visa. Application must be made should they use their own passport to travel. In case kids are on the parent's passport, only two photographs are required in addition to the parent's application.
- Lodging of applications :
Applicants must lodge their applications in person or by couriers (no spouse or other third person) at the Consulate between 9:30 am - 12:00 noon, Tuesday to Friday or can also be made by mail (since working hour can be adjusted according to the Islamic holidays including Ramadan, please see Contact Us page for more details);
Applicants by post residing in the UK must send a prepaid self-addressed special delivery envelope for returning the passport(s);
Applicants by post living in Ireland must send a postal order of £8 (returning passport(s) fees).
- Application forms :
The application forms must be fully filled on screen (Answer all the questions and fill out all the sections), printed, dated and signed by the applicant;
Applications with missing information will be delayed or rejected;
The application form is not electronically sent and data are not stored in our database, the applicants must bring or send it by post to the Algerian Consulate (visa section).
- Passport :
Passport must have at least six months remaining validity and contain at least two (02) blank visa pages for visa to be issued.
- Photos :
Photos must be recent, frontal-view, of the same batch, untouched and taken on white background and showing applicant wearing no glasses of any kind, except for prescription eyewear. Please write first and last names of applicant in pencil on back of photos.
- Travel insurance :
The travel insurance is mandatory for the citizens of the following countries :
Australia, Austria; Belgium; Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, F.Y.R. of Macedonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands (The), New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland.
- Visa fees :
Visa fees vary according to the visa type , duration of stay, number of entries (single or multiple) and the nationality of the applicant. Check the list for the fees.
The visa fees are paid only by cash or postal order when lodged at the consulate (no cheque, no debit or credit card) and only by postal order made payable to "The Algerian Consulate" when sent by mail
(no cash no cheque otherwise the application will be rejected).
* Please note that these fees are non-refundable if your visa application is denied or cancelled.
- Processing time :
The processing time may vary according to the nationality of the applicant and the visa type. However, visas submitted in person are generally issued within 10 working days. For the applications sent by mail, the processing time is at least 15 working days;
During certain periods of the year (summer holidays, New Year's holidays, Ramadhan, Eid celebrations), the processing time may be extended by 5 more working days for each period indicated above. This is due to the high volume of applications being processed;
The processing of an application may be delayed if prior agreement by Algerian authorities is required.
The Consulate reserves the right to request additional documentation from applicants;
The Consulate has no express service to process applications merely due to planed travel date, the consulate advise also not to buy non-refudable or non-flexible ticket until the visa is issued;
The date of departure does not affect the processing time of the visa;
The responsibility of any financial loss occured lies with the applicant(s);
For applications sent by mail, the processing time starts only when the application is received by our office;
The Consulate is not responsible for delays due to postal services. Please take note of the code bar number of your recorded envelope to be able to track your returned mail.
- Incomplete applications :
Any incomplete application, including the form, will be either rejected if lodged in person at the Consulate or returned to the sender if made by mail.
- Return of passports :
Applicants may pick up their passports at the Consulate between 4:00 - 4:30 Pm Tuesday to Friday (please see Contact Us page for more details) or send a prepaid self-addressed special delivery envelope for nationals residing in the UK and postal order of £8 for nationals living in Ireland;
The Consulate is not responsible for the lost or delays of document by the post office or other visa services.
- Period of stay (durée de séjour) :
Single entry visa : you can stay the whole granted period (durée du séjour) consecutively;
Multiple entry visa : you can stay the whole granted period (durée du séjour) consecutively or you can stay multiple time deducting the number of days you have stayed each time you enter Algeria;
Visitors must make travel arrangements to Algeria based on the date of entry indicated on their visa. Visitors must not arrive in Algeria before that date;
Visitors must leave Algeria before the expiry date shown on the top right hand corner on the visa sticker;
The maximum period of effective stay in Algeria is 180 days per year.
- Required documents :
Applicants for an entry visa to Algeria must provide the documents detailed below according to each visa category they are applying for. No scanned or faxed documents are accepted;
The consulate reserves the right to ask for additional documents to be provided;
Applications sent by fax will not be processed;
