Mobile Chancery to Dublin , April 18th- 20th 2019

A Consular delegation led by Mrs Kenza BENALI, Consul of Algeria in the UK & the Republic of Ireland has visited Dublin as part of the mobile chancery from the 18 to 20 April 2019.

During this visit, enrolment for biometric passports was carried out the 20th April from 10 am to 4pm without interruption for Algerian nationals. This mobile chancery is the sixth of its kin since the launch of the conversion of ordinary passports process. Applications for biometric passport have been enrolled according to a listing drawn up by the consular representation.

It is part of the government’s facilitation measures to strengthen relations with the Algerian nationals living abroad in order to facilitate access to the consular services. The meeting also was an opportunity to provide other consular services such as (legalization of parental authorizations and power of attorney, handing biometric passports and biometric ID, receipt of documents related to the Civil Status and other services …).

As usual, this mission was highly appreciated by the Algerian nationals attended the meeting who in the absence of valid passports, aren’t able to renew their residence permits or to travel to London to benefit from the various consular services provided to the Algerian nationals ( requirement of visa to enter to the UK).

During this visit, Mrs the Consul paid courtesy visit to the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Nial RING, and representatives of the local authorities during which an exchange was held on issues relating to the Algerian community residing in this city, as well as the means and tools aimed to strengthen the relations between the two countries.

Mrs the Consul also, took this opportunity to visit on the 19th April 2019 an Algerian detainee for breaking common law at Montjoy prison, to enquire on his situation and the conditions of his detention.
This trip to the Irish capital has allowed to the consul to have an exchange of views with Algerian nationals in order to answers to their preoccupations and to reiterate her full support and availability for actions which aimed in promoting collective interest, in particular the associative movement.
